Papiliorama Flora Fauna & Fun

The Papiliorama park is a tropical garden in canton Fribourg, Switzerland, with a fantastic butterfly dome, palm trees, and many types of plants, with more than 220 kinds of animals. Few places were so magical for us as Papiliorama!!! Let’s see it together what they have it: Nocturama, Jungle Trek, Wild Seeland, Zoé Zoo and Park.

What’s best for kids and family here?

Everybody will be enchanted in the butterfly dome! Nocturama can be a bit scary for toddlers. Zoé Zoo and Jungle Trek it’s funny for all.

Can you imagine a dome with more than 1,500 butterflies? In all colors, shapes, and sizes? More than 60 different species? Yes, here it is possible to find butterflies from the Philippines, Malaysia, Tanzania, and Costa Rica. They are dancing between the palms, bromeliads and lots of flowers. Sometimes they are so near to us; it is so sweet!! Most of them have a short life cycle, about one week, some up to three days!

The exhibition dedicated to animals of nocturnal habits, with reduced illumination and full moon climate. Sloths, armadillos, and many bats flying and passing by scraping in our head; it’s very cool!! My stepchildren got a little scared, and so did I, but in the end, they all loved it. Photos and videos are not allowed.

Jungle Trek

A tropical forest like in Belize, Central America, where the Papiliorama Foundation has an environmental protection area of 400 km2, is what we can see in Jungle Trek. Don’t miss the great Tucano Rainbow, that only exist in this country. You can also see it coatis, iguanas, and various types of orchids.
Donations for the Foundation Papiliorama are welcome!

Tucan Arcoiris

Wild Seeland

It is located on the outside, next to the restaurant. Depending on the time of the year, from the spring (April and May). You can see more than ten types of typical butterflies from Europe, as well as turtles, foxes, bees, and other insects.

Zoé Zoo

Mini Zoo with goats and other animals.

Zoe Zoo

The Papiliorama is part of the European Union of Zoos and Aquariums, which has ruled for the creation and coordination of the exchange of animals, birds, and fishes, thus avoiding importation.
A visit to the Papiliorama can be combined with a visit to the Swiss Capital, Bern, which is 30 min by car or Fribourg.

I’m impressed, I must say. Actually hardly ever do I encounter a weblog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me let you know, you will have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the problem is one thing that not sufficient individuals are talking intelligently about. I am very glad that I stumbled throughout this in my seek for something referring to this.
